Henry Baalke
(1874 - 1941)

Henry Baalke was born 10 April 1874 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, son of Johann H. Baalke and Maria Dorothea Blum. (Sheboygan County Births, Volume 20, page 177.)

He served in the Spanish-American War, and was a member of the United Spanish War Veterans and the American Legion.

He married Pauline Grabowski 12 May 1906 at Sheboygan, Wisconsin. The ceremony was performed by Rev. G.J. Burger, Lutheran pastor. Witnesses were Julius Grabowski and lulu Baalke. (Sheboygan County Marriages, Volume 8, Page 431, #2575.)

Pauline Grabowski was born 11 July 1873, daughter of William Grabowski and Caroline Farchmin. She died 30 November 1964 at Sheboygan, Wisconsin, of presbycardia nephrosclerosis. She was buried 3 December 1964 at the Lutheran Cemetery, Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

Henry and Pauline Baalke were the parents of three sons:

1) Leland Harvey Herman Baalke. Born 23 March 1907.
2) Henry Karl Baalke. Born 19 September 1908. Died 15 August 1995 in California.
3) Herbert Julius Baalke. Born 10 October 1909.

Henry Baalke worked as a pattern maker for the Northern Furniture Co. He drew the patterns for bedroom and dining room furniture.

Henry Baalke died 1 January 1941 at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital, Sheboygan, Wisconsin. He was buried 4 January 1941 at the Lutheran Cemetery, Sheboygan, Wisconsin. The funeral was held at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Rev. W. M. Czamanske officiating. Military services were held at the grave by the United Spanish War Veterans and the American Legion; a firing squad and bugler were provided by the American Legion.
