Joseph W. Kalchthaler

Joseph W. Kalchthaler, 86, of 2032 N. 4th St., father of a prominent Sheboygan attorney, died Monday afternoon at St. Nicholas Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Sheboygan on March 19, 1885, he was a son of of the late William and Margaret Urban Kalchthaler. He attended Holy Name School. On May 20, 1911 he married Louise Trimberger at Holy Name Church. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. Mr. Kalchthaler was an employe of the Kohler Co. for 49 years, retiring in 1954. He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Parish, the Kohler Co. Quarter Century Club, Apostulate [sic] of Suffering, Catholic Knights of Wisconsin and the Liederkranz. Surviving are his wife; a son, Atty. Virgil W.; three grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Ernest Ploetz of Sheboygan. He was preceded in death by one son, one grandchild, one brother and one sister. Funeral services will be held Thursday with a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at Holy Name Catholic Church, with Fr. Laurence Waleske, pastor, as celebrant. The Mass will follow family rites at 9:30 at the Kroos-Mason Funeral Home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Wednesday. Members of the parish and St. Luke the Evangelist Unit of the Good Samaritan Guild will hold a joint vigil at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. A memorial fund has been established in Mr. Kalchthaler's name. |
