Ernst E. Kubel, 88, of 1548 N. 21st St., died at 9:15 p.m. Saturday at St. Nicholas Hospital following a brief illness.

A native of Germany, he was born April 19, 1877, a son of the late Ernst and Louis [sic] Kubel, and came to Sheboygan Falls as a boy with his family. He attended St. Paul's School in Sheboygan Falls and was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church there.

On May 15, 1897, he married Miss Anna Kleist of Sheboygan. The couple lived in Sheboygan Falls for four years before moving to Sheboygan.

Mr. Kubel was a cabinetmaker, and was employed at the former Crocker Chair Co. and Northern Furniture Co. for several years prior to 1942 when illness forced him to retire.

He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church.

Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Edward (Louise) Stegner, Mrs. Max (Hilda) Kuether, both of Sheboygan; five grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. One son, a daughter and one grandson preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Ballhorn Funeral Chapels.

The Rev. Thomas Lee, pastor of St. Peter Lutheran Church, will officiate and burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral chapels after 5 o'clock today.
